HOT (Human Origins Today) Topic: In Search of Denisovans in the Altai Mountains
The discovery of the first fossil of the Denisovans, a sister population to the Neanderthals, in 2010 revealed an otherwise completely unknown hominin population and highlighted a major challenge in studying our ancestors - finding their physical remains in the archaeological record. Bone is easily broken down into small fragments over time and the vast majority of bone found during excavations can’t be identified to species.
In this presentation, Samantha Brown, archaeological scientist and Junior Group Leader for Palaeoproteomics at the University of Tübingen, discusses the use of a technique called ZooMS in the search for new human remains amongst these vast assemblages of bone fragments, and the discovery of Denisova 11 (nicknamed “Denny”), the only known hybrid of a Neanderthal mother and a Denisovan father.
Moderator: Briana Pobiner, paleoanthropologist and educator at Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History.
This Zoom webinar aired April 25, 2024.

In other words we have been lied to by the government and the main stream archaeologists, that Columbus was the person that discovered the Americas in 1492. Nothing is what it seems, it’s all a huge guess. I do believe that Comanche and other ancient natives were the first settlers in America. History books should be re written to tell the facts.

For now I have an open mind. It seems that every other day that something new is being found and old information being reassessed. There is a significant human problem relating to that many of the anthropologists and other scientists involved in the peopling of the Americas do not want to hear of any european contribution to the prehistoric history of the Americas. Anyone that pushes for it is attacked for being a racist. What makes this even more confusing is that many of these people are racists. The early inhabitants western europe were dark skinned that seems not to have changed until light skin farming people migrated into europe.

Amazing footage! That looks like a huge fish (do you know what kind?) she caught! The fish was struggling, but the hungry Anhinga (a tan-necked female I believe.) managed to fully consume (alive?!) it all okay? I wonder, does the large fish stand any chance of escaping if eaten in that condition? Maybe it can turn around inside the elastic throat/stomach and has a chance of survival here.
